Hi and welcome to KOGBlog!
The story of how I went from a fat fecker to a fit fella.
This is the story of my running journey: how I went from my wheezy first run in August 2011 of exactly 10 seconds to where I am now, in April 2014: having run 5 marathons and preparing for number 6 in June 2014. We’ll also follow me as I work to hit my ultimate goal: a 3 hour and 5 minute marathon.
Why run 46.2 miles in 3 hours and 5 minutes?
For an average bloke like me, it’s because 3:05 is the ultimate stretch marathon target; a Boston Marathon Qualifying (BMQ) time.
I know I’m not going to get there overnight. I know there’s a lot of work to do to build on the work I have already done. No matter what life throws at me, I know I can get there as long as I Keep on Going.
Keep on Going is the mantra I use to get through the sweat, pain and tears. Telling myself to Keep on Going is what transformed me little by little, day by day from unhealthy, chain-smoking obese 31 year old to where I am now: much healthier lifestyle
Being stubborn (or foolish) I’ve had to teach myself how to run. I’ve made many mistakes – some expensive -, pushed my limits, overcome challenges and am now ready to put myself to the greatest physical test I’ll ever know – running a BMQ time.
Why am I blogging about it?
- Sharing my experiences and learning to help others
- Keeping myself accountable to a public forum
- Getting through the motivation slumps
Over the next few posts, I’ll show you where I’ve come from and how I got to my current level. I’ll explain where I have failed and how I succeeded in my goals from keeping on going.
My fitness journey isn’t over yet – and I’m so looking forward to having you with me.
Keep on Going
