A couple of days late due to life circumstances, here’s this week’s Plan of the Week.
Man proposes, God disposes
After a good week, another bad week. My life got complicated last week and I did zero running.
Considering that my next marathon is next weekend, why did I lose all interest in my plan last week?
Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans
John Lennon (attributed)
Life got very, very sucky last week. I moved to NZ for work. The gap between what the role was promised it would be and what it is is very, very large. Much of that is down to circumstances outside my employer’s control. This means I’m not happy at work as it’s so unsatisfying.
I’m really, really frustrated and it got too much last week. I caught a dose of the blues. This included insomnia, constant tiredness and a general apathy towards anything.
Knowing myself, all I could do was work through it. This took a heck of a lot of limited energy. Which meant running went out the window.
What’s the plan for this week?
This week, I’m not fixing anything down. This close to the marathon, I’m being realistic. Finishing it is the main thing. So, this week I am going to just get running. To try to reclaim my running mojo.
So far, I’ve had one run (today) in the last 9 days. My plan is to keep enough running going to keep my legs some ways match fit. And then get my self round the marathon next week.
Getting over the hump
After my problems last week, it’s taken me till now to feel like running again. It took me time – all of last week – to get out of my rut. Emotionally, I just had to keep on going through it. Hopefully, normal service will be resumed next week.
