Plan of the Week Monday 13th July 2015
Yes, it’s been a long time! Life has been crazy busy though I’ve managed to get a few runs in. Precious little time for blogging though. Let’s see about setting some goals for this week and month.
Where have I gone?
Life is still very, very busy. Up to two weeks ago, I was juggling a four-hour commute (five hours if the Train Gods were angry). I had a week’s residential training (where I got some running) and then a week’s holiday (where I climbed Ben Nevis).
After Ben Nevis this time last week, my legs were, well, pretty mangled. I also managed to trip on the way down and banjaxed my ankle.
On top of all this, there’s been a break-up of a relationship and the time needed to deal with it. While it was the right thing for both of us and fairly amicable, it still hurt. That sucked all the energy from me. And made me forget about doing anything constructive for a while (though that was my choice).
Where am I going?
I am going to set myself three goals – one for this week and two for this month (ending 12th August).
Run 5 times – target 25-30k total this week
Take an alcohol break until 12th August
Around the 25th (my payday), select and book a marathon for end of October
What do I want from my running?
Although I have the stretch target of ‘running a BMQ time’, I’m going to struggle. It’s a combination of my overall fitness levels, time available to train and energy levels. For the rest of the year, what I mainly want from my running is:
lose the 15kg minimum recommended by my doctor
run 1 marathon with, ideally, a 4:30 finish and be able to run the whole way
update KOGBLOG bi-weekly at least with an article and weekly with the running plan
And that’s going to do for now. Till next time, keep on going.
