Like the proverbial curate’s egg, some parts of last week’s running were good, some bad and others a bit crap. After such a long stall in my running, I wasn’t expecting miracles to happen. But I wasn’t expecting this either…Let’s review.
Plan from last time
Last week’s plan was:
- 5 runs including 1 x 10k run [did 5.15k, 5 and a 5.1k]
- Book myself onto March’s Reading Half-Marathon [done]
- Book myself onto a Marathon for April/May [not done – too much month at end of money]
- Write a training plan for both [oops – I forgot]
What’s the verdict? Well, I’ve made some progress. But then this happened:
That was on last Friday’s run – turned the ankle on some wet, weedy path and been wearing the ankle support till yesterday evening. I’ll see how the foot fares tomorrow.
I didn’t hit all my goals but I made some small steps towards them. I managed some runs – consistent until the injury and have booked the half-marathon at end of March/April. And I’m back blogging.
It was probably a bit optimistic to expect to get back to the level I was at 18 months ago, but I am making small steps towards it.
This week’s agenda
- 4 runs – 1 x 10 – total 20k mileage
- Training plans!
- Book next marathon…
After a mixed week, I’m dealing with my frustration a bit better. Although I’m in a busy period work wise, I was able to make time to get some exercise in. Finally, after my aborted attempt last year, I’ve booked my spot on this year’s Reading half and am going to go for a 2.10 target. Till next time, keep on going.
